DAYTONA LAGOON DONATES NEARLY $800,000 OF IN-KIND SERVICES TO VOLUSIA COUNTY SCHOOLS

Daytona Lagoon donates nearly $800,000 of in-kind tickets to area schools.

Year-round family entertainment destination and seasonal waterpark Daytona Lagoon (Daytona Beach, FL) made more than a splash when it donated 39,480 vouchers to Volusia County Schools to distribute to each student in grades third through eighth to enjoy over Winter Break.  No purchase was necessary to get the voucher valued at $20 worth of arcade games and attractions. Students just bring the voucher to Daytona Lagoon before January 3, 2024, to the front ticket counter to be exchanged for a $20 Play Card, entitling the bearer to any combination of arcade games, food, and attractions up to $20.  Attractions include go-karts, laser tag, bumper cars, mini golf, the Skymaze ropes course, and a rock wall. “As part of the Daytona Beach community, it is our way to saying thanks to all the families who have come out and supported our local entertainment venue,” explains Tyler Currie, Daytona Lagoon’s general manager.  “And for families in Volusia County who haven’t had a chance to visit Daytona Lagoon yet, this gives them a good opportunity to experience the park first-hand.” Season Passes are popular purchases during the holidays as gifts. Currie said, “Not only are we offering a $15 discount, but those who purchase a season pass during the holiday sale also receive a free one-time bring-a-friend waterpark daily admission ticket and a free All-Park Pass for Central Florida’s Nona Adventure Park.”

Coming this Spring to Las Vegas, NV:  Caesars Palace and Clique Hospitality presents its latest creation, Caspians, a cocktail and caviar bar dramatically designed in onyx and pearl hues with detailed brass. On the bar’s back wall, a monochromatic passageway seemingly disappears into the shadows. Once you open the door, color and vibrancy will burst through. An homage to Art Deco’s Parisian roots, the music lounge is a collision of materials, fabrics, and colors. A large carved golden frame draped with inky blue velvet curtains will provide a rich backdrop for performances. A dramatic chandelier hangs from the center of the lounge from a 16-foot-tall ceiling, illuminating colors of the sea accentuated by brilliant gold features. Located near the main entrance to Caesars Palace on the walkway between the high limit slot area and Nobu Hotel & Restaurant, Caspian’s is taking over the space formerly occupied by Cleopatra’s Barge. Designed by the award-winning team of Celano Design Studio Co., the 1,100-sf caviar bar will seat close to 50 guests. The music lounge will span 2,300 sf and will seat nearly 100 guests.

HEY SINGLES: WHAT’S IN YOUR WALLET?

I have no idea how many of readers of Hotel Happenings & Program Promotions are single, but I do know many single people who are self-supporting and would not want to be involved with anyone who has massive debt or doesn’t know the value of a dollar spent judiciously. With that in mind, I want to share the latest survey conducted by personal finance website company, WalletHub. The company determined that nearly 47% of all U.S. adults are unmarried and only 42% of single adults are currently interested in a relationship or casual dating. Financial Secrets Survey measure 35 key indicators of dating friendliness, from online dating opportunities to the average price of a two-person meal, to help singles in the dating world. What are some of the findings? 76% more men have financial secrets than women,  but if you want to figure out who is most honest about their finances, then the prize goes to baby boomers. The Survey says 42% of millennials and 38% of GenZers hold financial secrets. Income and debt are the financial topics that people lie about the most, with 33% of people saying they’ve lied about each. Then add in, that one in four don’t think their partner has the right to know their financial wealth. Pretty interesting. Glad I am not having to scope out potential partners (as I am happily married). Let’s jump to the good stuff. You likely want to know the top 10 and bottom 10 cities for singles. Top 10 begins with Seattle, WA. The list then goes to Las Vegas, NV; Denver, CO; Atlanta, GA; Austin, TX; Reno, NV; Tampa, FL; Madison, WI; Tucson, AZ; and Portland, OR. There were 182 cities listed in the survey. Here are the 10 worst for singles, beginning with Winston-Salem, NC; then Little Rock, AR; Hialeah, FL; Jackson, MS; Dover, DE; Pearl City, HI; Glendale, CA; Brownsville, TX; Warwick, RI; and in last place, Columbia, MD.
