Vibrate into the New Age!

I love when certain words slide off my tongue as easily as dipping aforementioned tongue into a delectable Carvel soft chocolate ice cream cone on a hot summer day. Take synergistic, for example, a word that has been rolling around in my head for the past hour, just begging to be released. Synergy to me is when at least two diverse entities converge and the result is more powerful and wonderful than either part individually. Today my past and my present and my future all collided. When I was very young, I had a favorite uncle who was both a widely-respected newspaper editor and a prodigious national book reviewer. When I’d go to visit him, the walls were literally lined with books he’d reviewed. With each visit, he’d stimulate my thirst for knowledge with gifts of these treasures and encourage me to write about what I knew, what I saw, and what I wanted to be in this world. Never did I dream that one day I’d be on publicists’ lists to review their authors’ efforts, or that I’d finally succumb to the bait. I mean, c’mon… I haven’t written a book report since my English grade depended on it.
Then I received a book called Raising Our Vibrations For The New Age, written by Sherri Cortland ND.  Even though I work in corporate and social markets as a psychic, I really think of myself as a Personality Profiler whose goal is to be positive, friendly and fun during my readings. I don’t read many metaphysical books these days as most of them are a bit too “woo-woo” for me. Cortland’s book is anything but, which is the reason I have been thinking how my humble beginnings as a mentored writer converged with my metaphysical awareness and prepared me for being able to comprehend and appreciate what  she has written as preparation for the future.
She takes a complicated subject: who we are and the steps we should take to become who we want to evolve to be, and makes them sound au natural.  In this, her second book after the success she enjoyed with Windows Of Opportunity (both from Ozark Mountain Publishing), she once again channels her “group guides” to deliver a message of how simple measures can accelerate one’s journey into higher consciousness. I’ve never channeled another spirit, I don’t meditate in any defined manner, and I’ve never done automatic writing… but I have seen others do all of them and wish I shared those talents. Cortland’s guides deliver her precise instructions on how the world is preparing for a Shift in consciousness, and individuals have the option to evolve or stay rooted in their worries, fears and intolerances.
Many of her directives are ones I already do, such as smile at people even when you don’t know them. A simple smile is usually returned and paid forward. I’ve always been a smiler (and can’t count how many people wonder what secrets I’m withholding or who have commented that my smile brightened their whole outlook). Sharing a smile is contagious and powerful in how it connects even strangers. She also encourages people to examine why a negative situation occurs and to consider that perhaps it’s a sign to move onto another direction. See it as a “Window of Opportunity” to make lemonade from lemons, if you must. I preach that same concept and totally walk my talk. Nothing happens that I don’t wonder why and what alternative path I’m to travel. Like Cortland, I anticipate my journey will yield positive conclusions.
Her book explains where the world’s consciousness is at and where it is going. She offers advice (as given by her guides) on going vegetarian in order to become a “lighter being” in both body and soul or how to meditate, giving step by step instructions. The book even comes equipped with a CD of mediational exercises.
You don’t have to agree with everything she says, but what you can’t argue is her sincerity. This book is for people who want something better in their lives and are receptive to explore new ideas on how to make that possible. If for no other reason, maybe it will get you to embrace your smile!
